Exchange Your Criticism For Approval

The alarm goes off. You get up and look in the mirror.

What do you see?

Do you see the person you actually are? If so, do you approve of that person?

OR

Do you see the person you want to be? If so, what are you going to do to be the person you want to be?

*     *     *

Do you personally criticize the way you look? the way you act? the way you feel?

OR

Do you see what others tell you about yourself?

OR

Do you see what other’s tease you about?

*     *     *

What would happen if you told that image in the mirror that you liked yourself?

What would happen if you approved of the image you saw?

When my step-daughter came to live with us, I challenged her to look in the mirror each morning and tell herself that she was a great individual, that she could handle anything that came her way, and that she was awesome.

How about trying that for a week and see how you feel by the end of the week?

Forget about what others say. It’s what you believe about yourself that really matters.
